International Christian Tennis Association Tennis Tour to 2009 US OPEN… Update #2

Scott Paschal and Breck Christian Tennis Tour

ICTA Founder, Scott Paschal, planning possible historic first ICTA Tennis Tour to 2009 US OPEN.

Last week I took my aweome tennis academy gang to beautiful and laid back Tyler, Texas.

We drove the 2100 mile round trip journey!  I had a blast on the road with these great kids.

Tyler is an awesome town.  Hills and trees meet southern hospitality.  We stayed at a fully loaded resort complete with tennis courts, horseback riding, swimming pools, lake w/ fishing & paddle boats & camping, fitness center, volleyball, golf putting course, billiards…

The resort was awesome.

The main reason we went to Tyler instead of somewhere else is because this particular resort reminds and shows me what I want to build for International Christian Tennis Association.  When I am gazing at the trees and log cabins and tennis courts and main lodge I get inspired as to the direction I want to help ICTA go, as far as building a ministry facility.

An awesome group of amazing Christian tennis players!

An awesome group of amazing Christian tennis players from Ukraine, USA, Japan, Costa Rica, and Mexico! Not pictured are David and Linds (home in Australia & USA)

The main reason I brought the ICTA gang along is because this group really enjoys being together.

On the road.  On the tennis court.

Wherever.  This whole group has bonded in special, lifetime friendship ways.

And wow, I’ve coached Jon for about 4 years… Ana for over 2 years… Mark for about 2.5 years… Hiro for about 1.5 years…

There is a whole lot of history and friendship these kids have together.

My friend Breck also came to Tyler.  As most of you know, I’ve been friends with Breck for about 7-8 years.  Way back to the early 2000s when International Christian Tennis Association was based in Arlington, Texas.

Breck hitting w/ ICTA players... as he has done for over 8 years!

Breck and I planned to meet in Tyler to further develop a professional tennis tour to the 2009 US OPEN for ICTA Members.  We met in Tyler, and then again at his home a few days later.

To give our ICTABlog family an update on how things are progressing as we move this potential historic first ICTA Tennis Tour forward…

… right now we are looking at a 3 night/4 day trip during the first days of the US OPEN main draw.  I found an awesome hotel in Manhattan I really like, too.  Will keep updating you as the egg hatches…!

Until then, I’m busy learning to prep all the financials I’m responsible for… such as accounting structure, tax forecasting, bills payable and receivable, marketing, attorney for liabilities and contracts.

Yep, lots of boring paperwork stuff has to be done for our dream to happen successfully.

Hope you all enjoyed a Happy Thanksgiving, today.

God bless,

Seven Principles That Must Guide International Christian Tennis Association In Our Mission

Posted in Uncategorized at 8:34 am by Scott Paschal

I loved living in Steamboat, where God dreamed ICTA into my heart...

I loved living in Steamboat, where God dreamed ICTA into my heart...

When remembering the last 10 years, since I dared to breathe life into my big dream, International Christian Tennis Association, in a small coffee shop called Off the Beaten Path in Steamboat Springs, Colorado while talking with my friend, Ryan B., back in ’98… and watching both ICTA and myself grow and mature as we trekked together on an unbelievable journey…

… to envisioning and dream casting the potential for International Christian Tennis Association as I strive to birth a true ministry headquarters complete with offices, player housing, tennis courts, school, staff… and as I strive to develop a professional, yearly tennis tour to the US OPEN for ICTA members & friends…

I would sit in here for hours and vision cast ICTA, while eating fresh pastries and drinking hot chocloate!

I would sit in here for hours and vision cast ICTA, while eating fresh pastries and drinking hot chocolate!

… while also developing a series of interactive ICTA web sites to designed to develop an online community of fellowship… and establishing the maturity of a team of professional tennis players who travel the globe sharing the fame of Jesus at pro tennis events… and connecting ICTA members with medical missions…

…as God is blessing the faithfulness of each person who remained dedicated to gutting it out to seeding and watering International Christian Tennis Association, I want to remind all involved about the only purpose of our mission.

These 7 principles can be developed as the foundation of not only International Christian Tennis Association, but truly any of passionate Christian ministries.

ICTA volunteers, ICTA members, friends, partner ministries, supporters are in this together.

Ryan... 10 years after telling me I should go for it and develop ICTA.

Ryan... 10 years after telling me I should go for it and develop ICTA.

We are in this blessed situation to share His fame, together.

“Remember always to live as Christians should, so that… you are standing side by side with one strong purpose– to share the Good News.”   Philippians 1:27 (LB)

Let’s take a look at the Seven Principles That Must Guide Us In Our Mission. (Thanks to my pastor’s recent sermon for this!)

“One day Jesus was teaching with Pharisees and religion teachers sitting around.  They had come from nearly every village in Galilee and Judea, even as far away as Jerusalem, to be there….  Then some men arrived carrying a paraplegic man on a stretcher.  They looked for a way to get into the house and set him before Jesus.  But when they couldn’t find a way in because of the crowd, they went up on the roof, removed some tiles, and let him down in the middle of everyone, right in front of Jesus!  Impressed by their bold belief, He said, ‘Friend, I forgive your sins.’

Ryan skiing in Steamboat Springs. Hard core tennis and skiing!

Ryan skiing in Steamboat Springs. Hard core tennis and skiing!

That set the religion scholars and Pharisees buzzing. ‘Who does he think he is?  That’s blasphemous talk!  God and only God can forgive sins.’  Jesus knew exactly what they were thinking and said… ‘Well, just so it’s clear that I’m the Son of Man and authorized to do this…’

He now spoke directly to the paraplegic: ‘Get up. Take your bedroll and go home.’  Without a moment’s hesitation, he did it- got up, took his blanket, and left for home, giving glory to God the whole way.  The people rubbed their eyes, incredulous-and then also gave glory to God.  Awestruck, they said, ‘We’ve never seen anything like that!'”

This part of the Bibles is full of good stuff!  Let’s look at this through the importance Jesus’ places on the friends…

I. They had a real concern for their hurting friend… the principle of Compassion.

“Then some men arrived carrying a paraplegic man on a stretcher.” (v18)

Conrad has a heart of compassion as he guides me. Conrad, Stan Smith, and Jim Baker (PTL Ministry) attempted, but failed, to develop ICTA in the late 70s/early 80s.

Conrad has a heart of compassion as he guides me. Conrad, Stan Smith, and Jim Baker (PTL Ministry) attempted, but failed, to develop ICTA in the late 70s/early 80s.

*Key Truth: Every true mission must flow out of God’s love in us.

“We should all be concerned about our neighbor and the good things that will build his faith.” Romans 15:2 (GW)

“If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but I have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.” 1 Corinthians 13:1 (NIV)

For me personally, few people gave me compassion after my dad’s suicide.  Those that did care about me were able to guide me towards Jesus.  After 12-13 years I developed a heart to help others in need.  That heart was used by God to seed the ICTA dream.  I think heart is what successful Christian ministries need to have success.  Junior and pro tennis players can develop a heart for others.  Your game can share His fame.  Take some time and ask God to soften your heart.  You will love the result…

2. They took the time to bring him to Jesus… The principle of Action.

“They looked for a way to get into the house and set him before Jesus.” (vs. 19)

*Key Truth: We must put feet to our words or they are just empty words.

“Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” James 2:17 (NIV)

Over the years I’ve met a lot of junior tennis players who say they want to play professionally.  Yet, they are content to practice tennis just 3-4 hrs a week and play video games 35-40 hrs a week.   God often works when we do.  I have worked over 90 hrs a week since around 2002.  Constantly, I strive to improve ICTA.  My Christian tennis academy players learn to work hard, too.  In my experience success happens when we align ourselves with God and have the faith to do the work he assigns.  Pray God works in your life to strengthen your actions of faith.

ICTA Academy Students and volunteers at ICTA Outreach booth offering free Christian materials to over 300,000 fans during world's 5th largest pro tournament. Faith & Action!

3. They believed that Jesus would save their friend… the principle of Faith.

“When Jesus saw their faith, He said, ‘Friend, your sins are forgiven.’ “(vs.20)

*Key Truth: Our faith in God’s ability to save opens the doors of heaven.

“Jesus is able, now and always, to save those who come to God through Him…”  Hebrews 7:25 (GN)

“Without God, it is utterly impossible.  But with God everything is possible.”  Mark 10:27 (LB)

Faith can seem difficult.  Did you know the tennis ball basically disappears from your vision as you begin to swing to hit it?  It’s true.  We swing blind.  Look at pro players in tennis magazine as the hit the ball!!  Their eyes are looking forward to the last spot they were able to track the ball.  Some are better than other, they seem to be staring closer to contact.  But, not one sees contact!  That’s faith.  Yet, it’s faith based on experience.

Do you have a relationship, a close relationship with God?  The more experience you have walking with God through prayer, Bible study, missions… the closer you “track the ball to the striking point”, but at actual “contact” you have to have complete faith “the ball” will be there.  Ask God to help you follow Him closely so your faith is strong to do His will.

4. They didn’t let the barriers discourage them… the principle of Persistence.

“Let us not get tired of doing what is right, for after a while we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t get discouraged and give up.”  Galations  6:9

*Key Truth: We cannot give up as long as any are lost without Christ.

“… God is patient, because he wants everyone to turn from sin, and no one to be lost.”  2 Peter 3:9 (CEV)

This WTA player had been suicidal. Persistence reached her. Innovation & faith rebuilt her life. She went on to reach WTA #31 and earned $450,000+.

God always loves me and you, regardless.  That’s important to me.  When I make mistakes, I lean on his never ending love.  Building International Christian Tennis Association has taken persistence, a ridiculous tenacity to continue against all odds.  I have witnessed spiritual warfare at every step.  Any God fearing Christian ministry will be forced to endure.  People count on us not to quit.  So does God.

I am the first one to say I have no business leading an international ministry.  Yet, God picked me.  He is patient and loving as He develops me.  The world needs me and you to stand as His children and share His special news of Salvation through Jesus.  The original disciples were persistent.  You and I can be persistent, too.

5. The dare do something different… the principle of Innovation.

“When they couldn’t find a way in because of the crowd, they went up on the roof, removed some tiles, and let him down in the middle of everyone, right in front of Jesus!”  Luke 5:19 (MSG)

*Key Truth: The message doesn’t change but our methods have to.

“Let’s see how inventive we can be in encouraging love and helping out.”  Hebrews 10:24 (MSG)

People change.  Me and you, we change.  Generations come and go… what’s in now will soon be out.  Tennis used to be all about touch and strategy.  Things changed.  I wanted to reach the global tennis fan population, yet what could an idiotic nobody like me actually do!?  My life was the Webster’s dictionary definition of LOSER.  So, I heard about Jesus… and I believed what I learned.

Then, I guess in some ways I took the International Christian Tennis Association dream and dropped it in to Him from the roof.  I get the need for innovation.  Breaking into the tennis cult of tournaments, academies… the good ol’ boys club of tennis… with Jesus as the main focus took innovation.  You and I always need to look for ways of reaching unreached groups of people.

World class tennis players competing on pro tour and sharing Jesus to those they meet.

World class tennis players competing on pro tour and sharing Jesus to those they meet. Innovation meets cooperation.

Whether its with a tennis racket or a chicken sandwich or a bookstore, your life is unique and can be used by God to change the world. Never doubt that.

6. They worked together to get the job done… the principle of Cooperation.

“…they went up on the roof and lowered the man on his mat through the ceiling into the middle of the crowd.”  Luke 5:19 (NCV)

*Key Truth: God isn’t interested in solo players. His work is for a team.

“We work together as partners who belong to God.”  1 Corinthians 3:9 (NLT)

“Two can accomplish more than twice as much as one…”  Ecclesiastes 4:9 (LB)

Unfortunately, I am all about wanting the remote control of my life.  It has taken a ridiculous amount of humbling brought on my life by God to open my eyes to the need for cooperation/friends.  God can use your life to change the world, but first He has to change your sorry butt.  From health to finances to confidence, God literally destroyed mine.  He took away my worldly based self and build a more Godly based person.  I’m still cow poo, but I do see where I’m doing better.

And God needs us to work together.  Others need what we have and we need what they have.  By working together we can do more, be more, reach more, share more.  All that I am doing right now has come through a lot of work and a lot of humbling.  Yet, I do get it.  Jesus came and served.  By serving Jesus was able to change the world and bring us eternal hope.  If you struggle with sharing your life for God’s will to be done, ask Him to step in and how you how to have a world class serve.

7. They were willing to pay for the roof… the principle of Sacrifice.

It's all about sacrifice... time, money, goals... to gain a new vision which keeps us focused on Him.

“We have demanded our rights.  Instead, we would put up with anything in order not to hinder the Good News of Christ in any way.”  1 Corinthians 9:12 (GW)

*Key Truth: To follow Christ will cost you something; but what a reward.

You will never understand what I’ve sacrificed for International Christian Tennis Association.  I can’t put it into words right now.  It’s too much.  Yet, as I look back… it has truly been is nothing.  A friend of mine died when I we were in High School.  I missed him greatly at the time.  Now, he is mainly a distant memory.  His life and death did motivate me to do more with mine.  Still do. The sacrifices I’ve made to follow Christ have been great, but they, too, are distant memories.  They have taught me to do more and be more and to not have let it all be a waste.

Jesus died, He sacrificed.  But, from death came life.  From you sacrificing your idols… you will find a better life.  By focusing on Jesus, the Jesus of the Bible, your life will finally have purpose.  You will have a meaning and a reason for existing.  The pain and lonliness will be replaced by Jesus.

International Christian Tennis Association is a cumulation of sacrifices by many.

This ministry is God-blessed.  Of that I have no doubt.

To continue to walk with Jesus it’s important that myself now, and others steering the ship in the future, have a strong focus and determination to maintain these seven Godly principles.

Same could be said for you of your life.

Take some time and write these down.  Keep them with you.  Memorize the scriptures and apply them to your life.  Send me an email if I can help you in any way or if you have questions.

God bless!

Just a quick note to our ICTABlog family to let you known our little gathering place on the www is about to have our 40,000th visitor!

Pretty neat, huh?

We’re at 39,105 and counting…!

40,000 doesn’t mean 40,000 different people, though.  It just means 40,000 visits total.  Some people check in every day, some every few days.  Just depends.

ICTABlog receives around 120-150 hits per day, up from around 80 a few months ago.  In the grand scheme of bigtime web sites, that’s a dang small number.  But, for our little niche market in sports ministry, it’s pretty huge.

Most of our traffic comes in through International Christian Tennis Association’s web site,  People flip through there, then come on over here.

Hope you are all having a blessed week.  May God bless each of you.

WTA Comments About Ashley Harkleroad Mocking God?

ICTA Founder, Scott Paschal, at Pacific Life Open during ICTA Outreach to 300,000 tennis fans

I just received this comment on my recent article about Ashley Harkleroad‘s ridiculous decision to mock God and slam Women’s Rights and Child Advocacy Groups by posing naked in Playboy magazine… her trusty Prince tennis racket by her naked side and a “Christian Fish” tattoo on her exposed inner hip.

Read this comment and my response.  it seems the Women’s Tennis Association, WTA, is beginning to be take notice of ICTA, again….

Hi Scott,

I agree that Ashley’s choice to expose herself to the world is definitely not a Christian-like attitude and probably debases herself more than she knows.

However, two points I would like to make–I don’t believe the WTA had any part in convincing her or forcing her to take it down–this was a choice she made personally, and did not involve the WTA at all.

I cannot say for sure about Prince, because they may have wanted the publicity, however, Playboy may have wanted pictures with her tennis racket, and Prince is the racket she uses.

The other point I would like to make is while I agree with you that this was a bad decision, I personally believe the best way for people to learn the error of their ways is not to forcefully shove it down their throat, but to show them by our actions that our lives can be changed for the better with God.

I know many Christians, and even pastors, who give non-Christians harsh and definite criticism, which makes them even more eager to turn the other way.

M. Van  (editor’s note: full name was not given to ICTABlog)

My response…

hi “m”,

thanks for your comment.

ashley is a wta product. they basically own her as an athlete. she is governed by wta rules. from what she is allowed to eat… to tournaments she is required to play… to clothes she is allowed to compete in… to press conferences she is mandated to give… top wta players are bound by wta rules.

much as a pimp prostitutes women, wta uses players for $ gain. troy aikman, the hall of fame nfl quarterback of the dallas cowboys team that won 3 superbowls in the 90s, said nfl players are basically prostitutes for the national football league. the same can be said towards wta.

by wta not having a rule preventing players from such poor decisions and degrading the sport of tennis (and the wta brand) is, to me, an endorsement by wta for poor decisions by wta players.

i can’t see it any other way. if larry scott disagrees, i would like to hear his reasons why. i would then like for all women’s rights and child advocacy groups to be allowed to publicly voice their opinions towards his choice, as well.

ashley harkleroad seems out of control and possibly needs to have her wta status suspended or removed, give a public apology, and pay a fine to be donated to those her actions have offended/harmed.

honestly, if harkleroad was on the cover of an anti-homosexual magazine flipping off gays and promoting hatred of gays and bashing gays… i think wta would punish her severely and create rules to prohibit poor behavior by its product, wta players.

as for prince… i have a plan in action. yet, now isn’t the time to mention it. let’s just say christians aren’t the only ones angry about prince allowing their rackets to be used to mock God.

finally, if you discovered a top wta player was selling drugs to little kids … would you turn them in?  would you tell them to stop? of course you would.  you would want to protect the kids.

so far, i haven’t been harsh on harkleroad at all. in fact, some people are mad at me for wearing “kid gloves” about the situation. (i tell these people no one really gives a crud what i have to say anyway.  i’m just a little Christian nobody in a huge Godless global tennis machine.)

i think maybe you didn’t read the article thoroughly. read it again, slowly. let me know if it still reads the same to you.

thanks for writing “m”.

the more people talk about issues, the more the issues can be known.

God bless,

Shut Up, Stand Up, Grow Up and Show Up

Posted in International Christian Tennis Association, Teamwork at 2:37 pm by Scott Paschal

ICTA Fulltime Academy Student, Luke, from Costa Rica, Ripping a Forehand.

13 Year Old Fulltime ICTA Academy Student from South America Ripping a Forehand.

What would happen if today’s generation of youth realized they could make a difference in the world?

By this I mean if today’s tweener and teen generation had the opportunity to somehow view two different potential paths in life side by side, which path would they choose?

For instance, one path leads to a typical high school experience.  Then on to a typical college experience.  From there comes a marriage at a young age, children, and the race to acquire stuff.  Church is simply a chore to help the kids.  TV is god.  Tolerance of gays shows you are a hip person.  Soon, divorce appears… kids go to college…  2nd and 3rd marriage…. retirement.

High Performance Tennis Training Can Be Used as a Tool to Teach Generation Next How to Passionately Serve in a Fallen World

OK, now I’m depressed, too.

Now, let me offer you another view.

The only word for it is radical.  Not better.  Not higher.  Radical.  Maybe another word we could use would be revolutionary….

Before I load the bullets and cock the hammer, I want to ask you something.

Why are you here?

Not here as in reading my trivia, but why are you alive on earth?  What is your purpose?

It’s a big question.

My purpose on earth?  I am here to be crucified with Christ (Gal. 2:20.) I am here to spread the fame of the most controversial figure in history.  And I really don’t care who approves or disapproves, either.

Anastasia Kharchenko's New Backhand. Ana's New Shot Is a Powerful Weapon. It Is a Great Addition To the Christian Apologetics (Defense) She Passionately Studies

Anastasia Kharchenko's New Backhand. Ana's New Shot Is a Powerful Weapon. It Is a Great Addition To the Christian Apologetics (Defense) She Passionately Studies

My goal is to do what I can to destroy Satan’s plans by exposing his fraud.

Through my sharing, and teaching others how to share, the victory of Jesus’ blood shed on a Roman cross.

Now that the vast majority of you, particularly American Christians, are now confused with what I just wrote, I’ll dumb it down for you.

I realize you’ve strayed far from the Cross.  You typically claim to follow Jesus… but you get a little uncomfortable about the thought of being “crucified with Christ.”  (Gal 2:20)

That’s a bit too radical for you, huh?

OK, I’ll add some sights and sounds and funny things here to entertain you, like you get with your TV god and wimpy, modern-day “feel-good” Christianity….

Anastasia Kharchenko is Totally Prepared to Explode into the Ball. She Is Also Ready to Expose Satan's Lies...

Anastasia Kharchenko is Totally Prepared to Explode into the Ball. She Is Also Preparing to Explode into a Dark World for Christ.

That said, I want to now look at the other possible view/path Generation Next could choose.

Like I mentioned, it’s a radical direction for most of you.  You might have to ask Satan to remove his hands from covering your eyes for a moment….

Picture this….

From the birth of their kids, our future Pastors and World Leaders, Christian parents teach their kids facts about the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.

(I know radical for you.  Especially since you have no quality info on the subject yourself… )

As such, nationwide, a New Generation is intensively studying Christian apologetics, the defense of their Faith.  Imagine the global aftershocks of such focus!

Instead of kids becoming followers of Jesus simply because they have been brainwashed into it by well-meaning, but guilt tripping parents, friends, Pastors, Christian concert, etc…

… kids are taught hard core facts based on intelligence and proof.

Let’s say these kids are passionately armed with the ability to prove the validity of the Bible, and to use scientific evidence to show an Intelligent Designer created all things…

Then, we send this generation worldwide to learn how to share their knowledge.

And to let them sharpen their skills as followers of Christ while they confront Christless cultures…

God would be able to work through them in reaching people who do not have the Holy Spirit living in their hearts, who do not know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior.   Basically, people who are currently on a collision course with Hell.

Can you imagine a New Generation of 5-8 million youth empowered by God, educated about God, and sent by God fearing Churches to all nations and people groups!

As such, Christian kids have a purpose.  They have a reason for being.  Life is more than gimmee, gimmee, gimmee and video games and TV and “tolerance” and making Mommy and Daddy happy.

Through the power of the Holy Spirit, this New Generation will interact with culture worldwide, and they will grow deeper in love with Jesus.

What If Luke, and All Generation Next Christian Teens, Focused on Impacting the World for Christ Just as Much as He Is Focused on Impacting This Tennis Ball?

What If All Generation Next Christian Teens Focused on Impacting the World for Christ Just as Much as This Player Is Focused on Impacting This Tennis Ball?

Persecution will come, as promised in the Bible, and Generation Next will become sharper and more powerful and reach a level of life they were designed for.

I know.  Many of you overprotective, Christian “hover parents” are pretty much freaking out by now and are feeling “uncomfortable” with this.

But, deep down you know I’m right.

About 3 months ago the father of a top female 16 year old player from S. California wanted me to start coaching his daughter full time.

This girl is currently coached by a couple of the USA’s top coaches, really famous guys.  So, I was flattered.

She is an amazing up and coming tennis star.

I told Dad I’m not currently taking new students, but to tell me what’s going on.

The problem is, according to Dad, her current coaches have no idea how to keep the world from infecting her, and they may be part of the problem.

Already, she is experimenting with alcohol… and Dad is concerned about the friends she is choosing.  And her tennis level is dropping… fast.

Definitely a common theme here in America, as well as Australia and Canada.

That’s where I come in.

Anastasia Kharchenko Returns Serve in Florida's Gainesville Super Series Junior Championships. Ana Lost Just 2 Games the Whole Tournament! Passion and Committment to Excellence Guide Ana as a Christian Missionary in Tennis.

Anastasia Kharchenko Returns Serve in a Florida Super Series Junior Championship. She Lost Just 2 Games the Whole Tournament! Passion, Commitment, and Dedication to Excellence Will Make Anastasia an Incredible Christian Missionary On and Off the Tennis Court.

I coach at the elite level needed to maintain and add value to the already great job her current coaches are doing.

But, unlike Godless mentors, I am trained and prepared to cut through and get rid of the worldly satanic crap infesting her thoughts.

I am used by God to give the kids (and parents) their lives back and to show them a higher purpose.

I know how totally without Christ is the global tennis industry.

And I am completely aware that “Christian-Tennis Coach” is an oxymoron.

I have seen Satan completely and totally destroy the lives, hopes, dreams, and Faith of kids worldwide.  I know Satan owns tennis.

Satan and I are locked face to face in a life and death stare down for today’s youth.

I would love to now give you an amazing story of how this girl’s life changed.  I can’t, though.

I never even got to meet her.

As I talked to her Dad, I told him he was the main problem.

I told him he is a wimpy Christian and it’s hurting his kid.

Even though his own Dad was a pastor… even though he grew up in a Godly home… even though he was a respected business professional… it was easy to see he struggles with being a “hover parent”, and a “churchy” Christian who struggles with control issues, places God in a box, and is unwilling to authentically let the girl go and grow.

He agreed.  And he appreciated the brutal honesty.

Luke Leaping to Smash an Overhead. Go For It! Give It Your All! Some Balls Will Hit the Net. Some Balls Will Go Long. Yet, Soon You Will Know How to Use the Weapon. Parents... the Kids Can Do Missions and Change the World for Christ. Let Them Compete!

Leap to Smash an Overhead. Go For It! Give It Your All! Some Balls Will Hit the Net. Some Balls Will Go Long. Yet, Soon You Will Know How to Use the Weapon. Parents... Kids Can Do Missions and Change the World for Christ. Let Them Compete!

I then invited the player to travel with our ICTA Women’s Pro Tennis Team to ITF Pro Circuit tournaments in the USA.

It would give her a chance to hit with better players, hangout with Christians, compete with the world’s top juniors and dozens of WTA ranked pros, and experience a Christian outreach mission trip.

He loved the idea.

We worked on a potential schedule where she would attend a few tournaments in the USA, then travel internationally.  He kept loving the idea.

We discussed his need to back off and be less dominant in her tennis.  He 100% agreed it was important and wanted to change.

Yet, she never came.  I never met her.

As the time for commitments came, he began to feel “uncomfortable” and felt if God was truly involved and if God truly approved of it all, then he should have an “inner peace.”

Inner peace!?  Inner peace!!?  Are you serious!!?

Obviously, Dad didn’t know about Jesus sweating blood before He was to be arrested and crucified.  Or the pain Mary must have felt as her baby boy was being slaughtered…

… or the despair of aloneness and abandonment Jesus expressed as his life faded.

Inner peace!?  All Christian activities have to give everyone warm fuzzies and “inner peace”?  What an idiot.

I basically just let Dad wishy-wash himself away, and I moved on to Christians who don’t still wear diapers and continue to breast feed…

My question to this Dad and to others like him is…

“I wonder how Paul’s ‘inner peace’ felt as he was shipwrecked and floating in the ocean on a piece of wood?”

“What about his ‘inner peace’ when he was beaten and stoned?”

“Or, when Jesus’ disciples were eventually crucified… or ran through with a spear… or beheaded… or stoned… I wonder how “comfortable” they felt.”

Anastasia Kharchenko Prepared to Stroke the Ball. You Have to Be Able to Focus on the Ball. Without Focusing on Christ, You Are Competing Blind and Have Already Lost.

Anastasia Kharchenko Loaded to Strike. To Hit World Class You Have to Focus on Seeing the Ball. A Christian Not Focused On Christ Is Competing Blind and Has Already Lost.

This actually gets to the heart of the problem.

We don’t have many people left who are interested in being crucified with Christ. (Galations 2:20)

Like Peter, they follow Christ.

But, when pressure comes, they run to their comfort zones of denial.  Regardless of what they know is right, the Cross terrifies them.

If wimp Dad can’t even let his kid go on a mission trip in safe middle America to compete in a tennis tournament… and Dad was invited to come to!!!… then what the crap?

It’s pretty sad.

And, unfortunately it’s infected our soon to be Pastors and Christian Leaders rising out of Generation Next.

We are stuck with wimpy, pathetically uneducated in Christian apologetics, thus unmotivated, “Christians” who claim to follow Jesus, yet have little evidence of it in their lives.

What hacks me off is this weak brand of Jesus Freak will soon be in charge of shepherding the Church.

And, if that happens, forget about the Great Commission.

And forget about preaching Jesus crucified.  Forget about preaching about Sin, or Hell, or demonic warfare.

Forget about mentioning the power of the blood of Christ which guaranteed the defeat of a pathetically weak and defeated Satan.

Pastors nationwide today are already passionlessly working to not offend anyone!  They are already being beaten up and controlled by lost congregations sitting in the pews, of which, according to Jesus parable about the sower, a possible 75% are not truly Saved.

Weak preachers, selfish parents, thoughtless TV and internet, “tolerance” of horrific sins as a lifestyle… wake up you morons!  Move your feet and look at the ball!  You look like idiots, not players.

If we are going to compete in the Slams, we need to develop world class players!!

We have got to reach Generation Next with the same passion that ignited the early Church.

Generation Next Needs Passionate Examples of Faith Being Lived Out. Are You Passionate?

Generation Next Needs Passionate Examples of Faith Being Lived Out. Are You Passionate?

Generation Next is the harvest field of harvest fields.

What would happen if today’s generation of tweeners and teens realized they could make a difference in the world?

Ok, yes, I get it.  Things aren’t supposed to get “better.”

The Bible teaches it’s going to get worse down here.  Persecution of Christians is going to max out as we near the tie break in the 5th.

I’ve read the studies which show more followers of Jesus have been martyred in the last 18 months than in all of history, since Christ rose from death, combined.

I can see, like everyone else, that the match is soon ending.

So what?

Blend in to avoid persecution!?  Literally, Hell no.

We are not called to blend in.  We are not called to wimp out.

We are called to preach Christ crucified.  So, quit whining and shut up about how hard life is.

Quit complaining.  Realize what a Christian is.  Hunger for knowledge of all things Jesus.  Reach out to the world by preaching Christ crucified.

Shut up, stand up, grow up, and show up!

Look in the mirror….

When envisioning the Roman use of the Cross, do you deny your adoration of Jesus?

Are you simply a McChristian basically looking for a “feel good” Happy Meal religion?

Or are you a child of the living God sharing in the Lord’s Supper as a member of the Body of Christ while serving as a Crucified Saint in following His will for your life during the vapor of existence you have been granted?

Make your choice.  Where do you stand?

God bless,
